Twenty-One Essential Basics – Part 1

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

The main concept of the game is to be assigned cards adding up to 21. Every black jack player is dealt two cards. When a blackjack player is dealt a 9 or less and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the black jack player is dealt no Ace cards it is known as a hard hand. Once the cards have been handed to every player at the blackjack table, including the dealer, every black jack player is provided the opportunity to make 1 of 6 choices:

Taking another card (Hit): When a player announces "hit me" the croupier will deal him another card, if the adding of that card makes the total greater than twenty one the player will have busted and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the total to 21 the gambler will be the winner and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty-one they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you have been dealt: If a blackjack player is satisfied with the hand they will stay. Once this has happened the dealer will reveal their hand and the gambler who has gotten twenty-one or the closet to 21 will come away with a win.

Doubling Down: A gambler might ask to double down which increases the bet by 100% they have made. Once you’ve taken this procedure you can only be given one more card. The details of doubling down are normally out lined by the blackjack table or betting house rules so before playing be sure you’re comfortable with the casino game rules. If you’re playing at a net betting house this is usually very simple.
